If it’s the clay soil that you are dealing with then there are number of things to think over. One prime issue associated with it is that you will require regulating the action of the soil. Everyone wants to have a strong wall and will detest if there is any crack on the wall in the very first month due to the change in moisture. We are well aware that movement of soil changes due to the nature of moisture. The clay shrinks in dry seasons and it grows in the rainy season. This nature of shrinking and expanding can be seen in soil as well.
If it’s a open ground then such changes in characteristics of the soil is fine, but if you are building a basement the ground should be solid. If the area is made of clay then you might want to level the ground with lime before the construction works begin. Lime gives a stronger and stable surface to work on. Therefore, ground stabilisation is very important for solid ground.
